Pope speaks to children about his own prayer life

“Jesus called the children to him and said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.” (Luke 18:16)

On Saturday, Pope Benedict met with a group of children in Cotonou, Benin, and spoke to them about prayer and the importance of frequently visiting Jesus in the tabernacle. I have little doubt that this joyful encounter was among his personal high points of the apostolic journey to the West African country, which ended yesterday.

The text, with the others of the addresses and speeches the Holy Father gave, are available on this page. I have also made available a Dutch translation of the open and prayerful text the pope spoke to the children of Benin here.
